History and Metaphysical Properties:

Azurite: This is a copper mineral produced by weathering of copper ore deposits. It is often found side by side with green malachite. Its name comes from the word "azure". Azure is derived from the Arabic word for blue. It has been used for centuries as a blue pigment for paintings. However, it's color is delicate and its intensity may fade over time unless the stone is stored properly. It's important to store the azurite in a cool, dark place, much like its creation environment to protect its vibrant color.
Metaphysically, azurite is known as "The Stone of Heaven", for it promotes the pursuit of the Spirit and serves as a beacon to help unite the subconscious with the conscious mind. This makes it a great stone to hold while learning to meditate. Azurite is also a stone for "Letting Go"... of old behavior, old patterns and old ways of seeing the world. It brings clarity and wisdom, and challenges us to rethink our rash decisions.

Malachite: Malachite is always green, usually in banded tones varying from very dark green to a mellow green. Most malachite comes from Zaire, Chile and Australia. It is often found side by side with blue azurite crystals.
Metaphysically, Malachite is believed to be a strong protector of children. It is said to protect the wearer from accidents and protects travelers. Malachite has been used to aid success in business and protect against undesirable business associations. It is a stone of balance in relationships.
