Moss Agate Tower
Moss agate cut and polished into a large point.
Dimensions: 5 3/4" x 1 1/4" x 1 1/4"
History: There's no mystery to how this stone got its name. Through its translucence it actually looks like there is moss growing inside. But this is no form of plant. They are fibers of manganese or iron oxide. Most forms of this agate are mined in India, but can also be found in parts of the Rocky Mountains. Throughout history many forms of agate like this one, were rarely used in jewelry, but more for art objects, such as carvings and interior architectural decoration.
