The chain is a thick, stainless steel, round box chain with a length of 24". The modeled picture shows a different piece that has been sold, but is very similar in style, quality and size.

History of Stibnite:
WARNING Stibnite can be toxic due to the contents of antimony. Always wash hands after handling this mineral. Not for consumption.

Stibnite is also known as antimonite for it is a major source of the metalloid antimony. Unfortunately, antimony is very toxic, so this mineral must be handled responsibly. This sulfide mineral was used in ancient times for black eye makeup called kohl. Artists used this mineral as well for a black pigment. Stibnite was also used in the study of alchemy, which was a field dedicated to turning common metals into gold.

Most of the antimony mined each year comes from China, which supplies over three-quarters of the world total. The remainder is from Russia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Bolivia, and a few other countries. No mines are currently producing antimony ore in the U.S., but important amounts are yielded as a by-product of copper and silver mining. Numerous stibnite deposits occur in Idaho, Montana and Nevada, but most are worked out. Recycling of old lead-acid batteries (such as automobile batteries) contributes to U.S. antimony production.

Stibnite is important because it is host to a large amount of antimony which has a wide variety of uses. Antimony is used in the U.S. to treat other materials so that they can be flame retardant. It's also mixed with other metals, such as lead to make stronger and added to tin to create pewter dinner ware. A small amount of this mineral is also used in the computer industry to make semiconductors.

Metaphysical Properties:

Stibnite assists in helping to adjust to the constant changes that are faced on a daily basis. It alleviates fears, difficulties and chaos. For those who are sensitive to energy in general, using Stibnite can form an energy barrier around the body, enhancing your own energy field and keeping others energies at bay. Stibnite can be used as a diagnostic tool for healing. The energy of Stibnite allows a deep awareness of the physical body, which will help when scanning the internal body for specific areas where disease may be present. It also promotes cleansing and the release of toxins from the emotional body. Stibnite has also been used to enhance meditation by keeping one spiritually open while remaining present and aware. It encourages a higher understanding and ability to communicate with the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms. Stibnite has also been used to assist in the healing of infection sites, stomach and esophageal disorders, and muscle tensions.
