Astrophyllite CZ Oxidized Silver Necklace

This necklace features a fine specimen of Astrophyllite from Russia. Its rare crystal habit is what gives astrophyllite its name, from the Greek words astron meaning "star" and phyllon meaning "leaf". Blades of these dark, bronze like crystals contrast sharply with the light matrix that the mineral is regularly found in, known as Felsic which is a geology adjective describing igneous rocks that are relatively rich in elements that form feldspar and quartz.

This striking piece measures 3/4" in width and 1" in length, which includes the silver bail. The mineral sits in a sterling silver, prong setting, accented with a charm of cubic zirconia. The pendant slides around an oxidized, sterling silver, diamond cut rope chain. The chain length is 16" adjustable up to 18".
