Pyritized Ammonite Fossil Pendant with Quartz
This necklace features a rare, pyritized ammonite fossil from Russia. During the Jurassic period, these ammonites died in a sea that contained a high concentration of iron which caused it to react to the sulfur in the water and therefore formed the iron pyrite which replaced the ammonite cell by cell. This fossil pendant is suspended with gold filled wire with a twisted texture. A piece of "diamond" quartz accents the top of the fossil. The pendant measures 20mm in width and 33mm in length, which includes the gold bail. In this listing you may choose to purchase the pendant alone or add the chain shown in the pictures. This chain is gold filled, wheat chain with a length of 18" adjustable up to 20". Another quartz bead accents the end of the extension chain.
