Like sheen obsidian, Rainbow Obsidian is a unique variant of obsidian. While sheen obsidian gets its looks from vapor bubbles trapped in the lava, Rainbow Obsidian gets its colors and flash from magnetite particles. The cooling process spreads these particles throughout the stone and creates the iridescence we see.
